Awards Evening 2007

In May, the 1st Haslington Boys Brigade held its annual Awards Evening. It is an evening, dedicated to year that has gone by in the 1st Haslington Boy Brigade. Packed with fun, games, bits and pieces from the year and of course the Awards, we had a busy night planned. After a brief fall in, the night got underway with the Company Section play, which most people would agree was an excellent performance with lots of laughter. Following the play, was an impressive Marching display from the Junior Section lads which was very well coordinated and a great effort in by the lads. Afterwards, a quiz set up by Ryan Mellor and Joe Dixon took stage. It tested the parents knowledge on the year gone by. It may have ended in a draw, but most enjoyed by the parents and the audience. Then it was the Junior Section's turn to show off a few games that they enjoy playing on Tuesday nights, filled with competition and fun, the games were much enjoyed by everyone.

Then the Company Section struck back with a memorable performance of their drill to music (sung by the Proclaimers, I would walk 500 miles). Well choreographed and not a mistake made, it was amazing to see what our lads could do in the space of three weeks. With a massive applause from the audience, you could tell how impressive the performance was.

After a short break, it was time for the awards to be handed out by our Guest of Honour Revd Anne Lawson. All the boys received well deserved badges that they have been working hard for over the past year. It was also pleasing to see that so many boys won awards as well for their outstanding contribution to the 1st Haslington Boys Brigade over the past year.
