| Tin Collecting for Neighbours |
Each year, 1st Haslington helps to collect food tins around Haslington for the charity Neighbours (formally Neighbours in Distress). These tins are used to create parcels for less fortunate residents in the community over the Christmas period. We met at the chruch as usual and then headed out around the village, knocking on doors and collecting tins.
This year, we split into two groups to cover the two areas we had to collect tins from; one group covering Ashley Meadows and the roads off and the other group The Brambles and the roads off from that. Although it had rained heavily earlier, the weather stayed clear for us as we collected the tins.
Once completed, the tins were taken back to the church where they were sorted and organised into packages for the vulnerable local people and delievered over Christmas. Our thanks go to the parents/volunteers who drove along with us, cars laden with tins!
