| Kayaking Taster Session |
Our Boys' Brigade has for a while had a keen set of kayakers and tonight saw some of the new Company Section members, Ben and Lewis try kayaking out for the first time. The group also included myself, Joe Dixon, Robert Dixon and Ryan Welch.
The conditions for kayaking were excellent with a beautiful clear evening and sunset which for me brought back the memories of the Bahamas.
The session was led by Graham Bushill of the Oakhanger Project who ran a range of activities from learning paddle strokes to playing canoe tag with a softball. The aim of the evening was to introduce (or re-introduce for some) basic kayaking skills which we can in later sessions build on.
The evening also included a series of accidental capsizes which required me to help rescue some of the people involved. With splashing and general paddling, the night was certainly enjoyable for all who attended.
A special well done to Ben and Lewis who did especially well to pick up the strokes quickly. It was certainly a night enjoyed by all.
