Junior Section Slot Car Racing

For many years, the 1st Haslington Boys' Brigade has taken the Junior Section to the Scaletrix G.T. Race track at Funsters. The track is a huge table which fills the room and races 6 cars and enables teams to compete against one another in tough racing competitions which requires skills and that pedal to the medal!

We all split up into pairs which made up the 6 teams which would be racing. I was paired up with Daniel to make Team Awesome. For our team we had a slow start but managed to pull ourselves into 3rd position for the 1st set of races. The races were full of energy as not only did the boys have to press the button to make the cars go around but go too fast and your car might spin off. This required the other team mate to pick up the car and put them back on the track.

With a very close competition against the teams, the likes of Mr Quigley and other team members started to create blockades in order to win. Soon all the teams were in on the act and all in the name of fun. It was also surprised me how exhausting it is to run around the track to put our car back on the track.

In the second set of races, Team Awesome retained the top spot for the duration of the races resulting in an overall win at the ed of the event with the most laps completed.

A huge well done to all the boys who took part and thanks to the leaders and helpers who came along to help out with the event. I think we all agree this was a very thrilling and humourous events.
