| First Kayaking session of 2010 with the Oakhanger Project |

23rd February 2010
Now Kayaking is the best thing we've ever done at Boys' Brigade. Well so far anyway. This session was based on how to save yourself and others in a situation when you were kayaking on a lake or a everyday Swimming Pool. It was a breath-taking day! Although it was our first ever time, we still had every single percentage of confidence in our bodies. Hopefully we will be able to attend another session of great fun!
We started off by having a race where, without paddles, we had to race from one end of the pool to get a piece of equipment from the other end and come back. We then learnt how to do a capsize which we were scared at but we did it. We also learnt how to put a Spraydeck on which was weird. Also we learnt how to do a Low and High Brace which we think scared us but we managed it.
The only bad in Kayaking was that there was not any free time. It was though the best thing we'd done in BB so far.
With High Brace we had to do Monkey Arms and splash at our sides to stop us from falling in. Then we learnt the High Brace which we put our arms in the air and did the same. We then learnt to do it on left and right sides. We also did capsizes in which we turned all the way into the water.
At the start we had races which we found fun and at the end we had to do rescues and rescue someone who was drowning.
