Second and Third Rounds of the BB National Quiz 2010

25th March 2010

The second round of the competition was held in West Bromwich and we had been revising hard for a number of topics. These included Rivers of Europe, FA Cup finals 1990-1999 and a passage from the Bible.

Our competition was strong, many of whon we had met before, but we maintained a consistent approach, leacing it until the final round to clinch victory and passage to the third round.

The third round was held at Consett, a four hour journey away. We arrived to find the venue surrounded by snow but a heart cooked lunch waiting for us inside.

We had revised for rounds including Rivers of North America, and further FA Cup Finals, but revision from recent AS and GCSE exams had taken their toll on how much work we could do.

We scored well in General Knowledge and picture rounds, but our weakness was the specialist rouns wherw we lost lots of marks on some very difficult though interesting questions. We finished fourth out of six and are proud of the progress we've made in this year's competition. Our competition had obviously worked hard and were well-deserving of their place in the next round.

We'd like to thank Rob Welch and Rob Walker for ensure we arrived to both rounds, despite the immense distances and poor weather involved. We look forward to next year's competition which may see a change to the line-up of recent years. Watch this space!
