| Balloon Race Fundraiser at Village Fete |
|
15th May 2010
A typical Village Fete for 1st Haslington has always involved wind, rain and Stan the Goalie. For once, the mould was broken and quite the opposite happened with sun, heat and a balloon race.
Having used Stan for many years, we kept him at home and went for a new initiative of a balloon race. Although very weird at first to organise, me, Joe, Reece, Ben, Matt, Simon and Robert quickly got into the groove and were selling balloons like no tomorrow letting them off and bringing in plenty for BB funds.
The idea of the Balloon Race was to pay a £1 per balloon and to let it off seeing how far it will go. The balloon that goes the furthest wins a meal for two at Crewe Hall with the runner up winning £15 worth of Millets vouchers. Just today we have already had two responses from Birmingham through the BB's reply form and waiting for nearly 100 more balloons to be confirmed.
Selling around 100 balloons, this year has proved to be very profitable raising about £150 for BB funds. It was an event I and those who were present throughly enjoyed and we hope that the money raised can go towards new equipment and trips for the boys to enjoy! Thank you to all those who helped out.
