Here we are at the end of March already, and it seems like only yesterday I was writing my last Captain's Report. Although we have not been able to access the refurbished Haslington Methodist Church this has not stopped both sections from having a full programme on a Tuesday and Thursday.
The Juniors have continued to meet under the guidance of Clair, with the help of John and new helper Andrew when they can get down and also Joe and Ryan. Thye have a lively and enjoyable programme which is reflected in the consistent attendance.
The Company Section has continued to meet at Elworth and the programme has settled down and everyone has goals to work to as well as having fun.
The Quiz Team consisting of Philip Wright, Chris Burrows, James Walker, Jonathan Allpress and Dominic Mellor won their second round competition at West Bromwich in January which led them to being in the semi-final at Consett. Unfortunately they did not manage to win that round in order to progress to the finail but they can take pride in reaching so far into the competititon.
The ten pin bowling team consisting of James Walker, Joe Dixon and Dominic Mellor came fourth in the District ten pin bowling competition, again an achievement they should be proud of.
We had five lads kayaking in the half term at Sandbach Boys School indoor pool, most od which were new to the experience and we hope to include more sessions shortly both inside and outside.
Four of our young men took part in the Queen's Badge Completion Course in February. Joe, Philip, Chris and Ryan will be presented with their well earned awards in May, during a ceremony at Liverpool Methodist Church, Southport.
Finally, I hope that you all come along to our 40th Award Evening in May, details of which will be available soon. The lads are putting together various items including a slide show of events over the past 40 years, so if you have anything than might be of interest, please do get in touch. |
